Amplifire Learning Achieves FedRAMP LI-SaaS Authorization
BOULDER, Colo., July 21, 2021/PRNewswire/ – Amplifire, the industry leader in adaptive learning software used by healthcare, education, and corporations, today announced that it has received FedRAMP LI-SaaS authorization.
FedRAMP is a government-wide program that promotes the adoption of secure cloud services across the federal government by providing a standardized approach to security and risk assessment for cloud technologies and federal agencies.
With an LI-SaaS authorization, government agencies such as the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) and the Department of Defense (DOD) can use Amplifire’s adaptive learning platform to deploy essential courses designed to improve healthcare and business outcomes, while significantly improving the learning experience for federal government employees.
The Veterans Health Administration is the largest integrated health care system in the United States, providing care to over 9 million veterans enrolled in the VA health care program. In 2015 they launched the VHA Innovators Network (iNET), designed to empower its employees with innovative products and services to better serve veterans and their families.
The VA Rocky Mountain Network (VISN19) selected Amplifire as their vendor of choice for delivering training to their clinicians because it is an innovator in the learning technology space. Built on cognitive science principles, the Amplifire learning platform fosters rapid learning and long-term retention while adapting to each learners’ existing knowledge base. It fills knowledge gaps and uncertainty and is unique in its ability to detect and correct confidently held misinformation—a hidden risk that can hinder performance and lead to costly mistakes.
VISN19 is using Amplifire to deliver courses that focus on reducing Hospital-Acquired Conditions (HACs) such as Catheter-Associated Urinary Tract Infections (CAUTI) and Central Line-Associated Bloodstream Infection (CLABSI). So far, the CAUTI course has been deployed at the Salt Lake City location, with a rollout to Eastern Colorado to soon follow.
“It is an honor to support the VHA and their efforts to improve healthcare delivery and service for the Veteran community,” said Dr. Bryan Bushick, Amplifire’s General Manager, Healthcare, and the company’s Chief Healthcare Innovation Officer. “Amplifire’s adaptive learning platform and available healthcare courses help clinicians and healthcare systems improve performance, reduce risk and enhance caregiver wellness.”

Amplifire Secures Patent for Analytics Regarding the Confidence of Learners
BOULDER, Colo., Nov. 2, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — Amplifire, an eLearning company, announced today the award of an additional patent by the United States Patent Office. Amplifire holds patents issued in the US, EU, Australia, Canada, Japan, South Korea, and other countries and jurisdictions worldwide. The new patent is titled Display and Report Generation Platform for Testing Results.
The new patent, US Patent No. 10,803,765, is directed to aspects of Amplifire’s learning platform, which includes unique Answer Key and Reporting Dashboard features. The Answer Key allows learners to signify both their confidence and answer choice in one click, which fosters greater metacognition. The Reporting Dashboard builds visual analytics displaying a learner’s misinformation, uncertainty, and struggle in bar charts and heatmaps. Search and sorting features allow managers or instructors to see their organization’s knowledge at any scale, from individual to team to division, and across the enterprise.
“Our customers view knowledge as a strategic way to compete.”
Confidence measures shown in the reporting dashboard are essential because confidence is the precursor to human behavior. It appears as internal thoughts such as, “I’ve got this,” or, “I haven’t a clue what to do.” The Amplifire dashboard reports and sorts using the confidence a learner displayed when they answered questions in the assessment phase of learning and subsequent refreshers. The most dangerous form of confidence occurs when a learner is sure but incorrect, referred to as confidently held misinformation, driving them towards a mistake.

The ability to see how confidence is bound to knowledge gives learning officers, administrators, and instructors a window into the risk of future mistakes in their workforce. Visualizing human fallibilities such as misinformation, uncertainty, and struggle lends unprecedented guidance to managers and instructors. For the first time, they can see the people who improve in the platform, where pockets of risk lie, and who needs at-the-elbow help.
Amplifire CEO, Bob Burgin, noted, “We are proud that the US Patent Office noticed our reporting dashboard’s unique features and awarded our efforts with a patent. Amplifire’s product development team regularly thinks up new ways to help people overcome the knowledge problems inherent in the human condition. Our customers view knowledge as a way to compete. They understand it’s strategically in their interest to help their people reach new levels of performance.”

HealthcareSource Partners with Amplifire Healthcare Alliance, Now Distributing Infection Prevention and Control (COVID-19) Essentials Course
WOBURN, Mass., April 3, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — HealthcareSource, the leading provider of talent management solutions for the healthcare industry, is partnering with Amplifire, an innovative knowledge engineering and training platform, to distribute its Infection Prevention and Control Essentials – Rapid Refresher course to healthcare organizations across the U.S.
HealthcareSource now offering a course created by Amplifire in collaboration with ECRI and leading academic institutions, which identifies known areas of PPE misuse and provides a refresher on how to properly use PPE that will help save lives.
The course is designed to help frontline caregivers exposed to COVID-19 refresh their knowledge of proper PPE usage to better avoid catching the virus themselves or transmitting it to others. Unlike many other training courses available today, the course identifies known areas of PPE misuse while also directly addressing the consequences of PPE shortages.
“HealthcareSource is committed to providing healthcare organizations with resources and a learning infrastructure to educate and train their staff during this critical time. Partnering with Amplifire provides us with a scalable solution that will help healthcare organizations with emergency preparedness and infection control,” said Michael Grossi, CEO of HealthcareSource.
While frontline healthcare workers are fighting COVID-19, the proper usage of PPE is instrumental in keeping the spread to a minimum. But according to a 2018 study, 73% of caregivers failed to take appropriate precautions against infectious agent transmission. This course was created to help frontline workers identify potential errors when managing PPE – based on real data – and lessen their exposure to the virus.
Built with leading infection control and safety experts from ECRI and other academic institutions, this course will arm caregivers for the ongoing battle with COVID-19. Importantly, the course acknowledges that PPE supplies are dwindling and highlights effective equipment workarounds that can be broadly disseminated. Guidelines for PPE use will be frequently reviewed and adjusted, with course refreshers delivered to all caregivers.
“As devoted as our caregivers are, we cannot simply trust that they have the right knowledge to protect themselves and the patients with whom they interact while dealing with COVID-19. By quickly validating and refreshing critical knowledge, healthcare providers and frontline staff will have greater confidence and competence at this critical time,” noted Bob Burgin, Amplifire’s CEO.
“Amplifire’s patented learning algorithms, knowledge analytics, and diagnostic capabilities, allow healthcare organizations to rapidly refresh and validate frontline healthcare workers’ infection prevention and control knowledge to reduce risk and improve safety during this crisis,” said Mr. Grossi. “Our partnership with Amplifire furthers our commitment to support healthcare organizations in their fight to combat the coronavirus pandemic.”
For more information, register for our webinar on Thursday, April 9th at 2:00 p.m. ET to learn more about the course and how to enroll.

Amplifire Offers Infection Prevention and PPE Shortage Training to Protect Caregivers
BOULDER, Colo., March 30, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — Amplifire today released its Infection Prevention and Control and COVID-19 Essentials – Rapid Refresher course. This new course is designed for frontline caregivers who are fighting to minimize the spread of the outbreak by not acquiring the SARS-CoV-2 virus themselves or transmitting it to others. In contrast to many other training resources that have recently surfaced, this course focuses on known areas of misunderstanding regarding use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), while also directly addressing the consequences of PPE shortages.

Built with leading infection control and safety experts from ECRI and academic institutions, this course is meant to arm caregivers for the ongoing battle. It addresses measures that caregivers sometimes forget. For example, a 2018 study on infectious agent transmission in hospitals found 238 failures in 325 observations related to PPE.
Importantly, the course acknowledges that PPE supplies are dwindling and highlights effective equipment workarounds that are being broadly disseminated. Guidelines for PPE use will be frequently reviewed and adjusted, with course refreshers delivered to all caregivers.
Bob Burgin, CEO of Amplifire said that, “Knowledge gaps occur every day in healthcare settings. They will be starkly revealed during this crisis. We cannot take on a pandemic effectively if our frontline healthcare workers are unknowingly part of the spreading mechanism, or not able to come to work because they are sick.”
According to Dr. Brent James, Chairman of Amplifire’s Clinical Innovation Advisory Board and a recognized expert in healthcare quality and safety, “Passing out informational flyers and PowerPoint decks, or reminding caregivers about proper PPE usage will not suffice. There is not enough time for classroom training or lectures. Even if there was, we know that such training approaches are not effective. We must turn to the most advanced knowledge transfer tools being used by leading health systems for critical training in infection-oriented areas such as Sepsis, C-diff, and CLABSI. With such tools we can rapidly validate that a frontline caregiver understands the most effective infection control practices and the most effective PPE workarounds as supplies run low during this emergency.”
Dr. Brigitta Mueller, Executive Director of Patient Safety, Risk, and Quality at ECRI, a collaborator who helped design the course noted that, “By rapidly refreshing and validating vital knowledge about infection, healthcare providers and frontline staff will have greater confidence and competence at this unprecedented time.”
Amplifire is offering Infection Prevention and Control and COVID-19 Essentials at no cost to its Healthcare Alliance Members now using either the “Safety and Quality Essentials” or the “Compliance” libraries. Other healthcare systems can learn more about accessing the course here. It can be deployed directly to any size workforce through a link in an email or by using an organization’s learning management system.
