• Accurately identify and select the correct patient/MRN using primary and secondary identifiers and related documents
• Perform an accurate patient search within the Electronic Health Record (EHR)
• Accurately select an existing, or appropriately create, a new Medical Record Number (MRN) for the patient

Course Description

This course builds learner understanding of primary, secondary and tertiary patient identifiers. Learners will know how to obtain and verify identifiers from the patient, perform an accurate patient search using the 4×4 method, understand when to use secondary and tertiary searches, and correctly select the right patient.
