Amplifire to Present at Annual Psychonomic Meeting

Matt Hays, Senior Director of Research and Analytics of Amplifire, will be presenting at the 59th Annual Meeting of the Psychonomic Society, which is being held November 15th-19th, 2018, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Dr. Hays will be presenting work jointly conducted by Amplifire and a large healthcare system, in which Amplifire improved healthcare workers’ performance. This effort is critical; mistakes made by healthcare workers kill 250,000 people per year in the United States alone. That number places medical error as the third-leading cause of death in the U. S., behind only heart disease and cancer. According to the Joint Commission, the most common cause of medical error is “cognitive failures” on the part of healthcare workers. By mitigating these cognitive failures with a platform built on brain science, Amplifire was able to substantially improve patient outcomes. About the Psychonomic Society Annual Meeting
The Psychonomic Society is the preeminent society for the experimental study of cognition. Members are cognitive psychologists and include some of the most distinguished researchers in the field. They study the basic, fundamental properties of how the mind works by using behavioral techniques to better understand mental functioning.

At the Psychonomic Society Annual Meeting, cognitive psychologists debate, deliberate, and discuss the most innovative, cutting-edge research on questions concerning memory, learning, problem solving, decision making, language, attention, and perception. The scientific presentations are often concerned with the application of psychology to health, technology, and education as well as their connections to research in biology, chemistry, statistics, computer science, medicine, law, and business.
